Creation and design of a business plan for the launch of a Startup that aims to enter the Renewable Energy market.

Since the beginning of this project, the purpose of this Final Thesis has been to identify a market niche and propose a feasible Business Plan for an organization aiming to enter the Renewable Energy Market. Bearing that in mind, this document starts analyzing the current situation, the market trends and the situation of the prospective competitors. Using the gathered data, a solution for a spotted need is proposed and processed into a whole Business Plan. Through the academic document concepts learnt while studying Industrial Engineering are applied providing us further understanding of the operation mechanism of the technologies studied and enabling us to design the proposed solutions using several electronic devices. On top of that, analytical methods related to Economic Analysis subjects are applied for the market analysis, design of the organization and financial analysis. The project initially carries out a thorough study of the energetic sector in Spain focusing on its latest innovations and the emerging new technologies. Such research suggests that the use of Photovoltaic Energy may present strong rises in the near future due to competitive advantages with respect to other energy sources. Consequently, it is performed a market analysis, studying the market size and the current needs for potential customers who could be interested in products related to Photovoltaic Systems. Afterwards, competitors offering similar services are analyzed. Once enough data about the market and current competitors is gathered, a solution that could fall within the market demands is proposed. In order to design solutions based on technical expertise, this document includes a theoretical chapter including the required knowledge related to Photovoltaic Systems and their design. This knowledge would allow the organization to provide optimal solutions using the latest technological improvements. Using all the previous information, a Business Plan is designed where the proposed solution is integrated in a fictitious company operating in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona. In this chapter the operation principles, organization and products offering of the company are designed. As there does not exist enough data to design a reliable sales forecast, three possible scenarios of sales are considered within a horizon of 3 years. The Business Plan includes the reaction of the organization in every scenario and a detailed financial analysis accounting the income and expenditure that would be generated in order to cover the demand in each situation. Finally, the financial soundness of the designed company is assessed under the proposed scenarios.
