Violation of a person’s integrity through crime is a non-financial damage regulated in the Tort Liability Act, Chapter 2, section 3. The provision states that for liability to be imposed on the perpetrator, it is required that the violation is caused through crime and that the violation is assessed as serious. Whether a violation is considered serious depends on all relevant circumstances surrounding the offence. These circumstances can either be related to the criminal offence itself, the perpetrator, or the victim.
