Estrutura espacial e tendências temporais de biomassa e densidade das assembleias de peixes recifais da Ilha de Alcatrazes, São Paulo, Brasil

Reef fish are structured in complex assemblages, with distribution patterns influenced by factors of both biotic and abiotic nature. These vertebrates are fundamental elements in the dynamics of marine ecosystems and coastal socioeconomic activities. However, despite the recent advances in knowledge of reef fish assemblages, patterns of local distribution to use of the space-time habitat of assemblies on the Brazilian coast, re-main poorly understood. This work sought to investigate patterns of the reef fish assem-blages of Alcatrazes Island, a protected marine area on the north coast of São Paulo. Ad-dressing aspects of the spatial structure of the fish assemblages, and temporal variations in the biomass and density of some economically important families. For this, samplings were performed to describe the assemblies (i.e. composition, density, biomass, richness and diversity). The data were obtained at eight sample points and then related to local en-vironmental variables, such as structural complexity, environmental heterogeneity, depth, exposure to waves and benthic coverage of soft corals, hard corals, macroalgae and turfs. Depth, benzoic coverage and environmental heterogeneity were the variables that most influenced the composition of the reef fish assemblages, with depth being the main struc-turing variable. The temporal analyzes, carried out with data from three summers (2015, 2016 and 2019), reinforced the importance of resident species as the main descriptors of rocky reef environments. In addition, there have been significant fluctuations in the density and biomass of some species of commercial interest. The results show that in rocky reefs, two or more distinct assemblies can be structured in the same place, varying according to the local attributes. Some occasional species of reef environments can distort analyzes and interpretations of local assembly standards. And species of reef fish residing in a giv-en area and of commercial importance, can respond positively to the protection factor due to greater inspection efforts.Os peixes recifais estruturam-se em assembleias complexas, com padrões de dis-tribuições influenciados por fatores tanto de natureza biótica quanto abiótica. Estes verte-brados são peças fundamentais na dinâmica dos ecossistemas marinhos e atividades so-cioeconômicas costeiras. Entretanto, apesar dos recentes avanços no conhecimento das assembleias de peixes recifais, padrões de distribuições locais de uso do habitat espaço-temporal de assembleias da costa brasileira, ainda permanecem pouco compreendidos. Este trabalho buscou investigar padrões das assembleias dos peixes recifais da Ilha de Alcatrazes, uma área marinha protegida do litoral norte de São Paulo. Abordando aspec-tos da estrutura espacial das assembleias de peixes, e variações temporais na biomassa e densidade de algumas famílias economicamente importantes. Para isto foram realiza-das amostragens para descrição das assembleias (i.e. composição, densidade, biomassa, riqueza e diversidade). Os dados foram obtidos em oito pontos amostrais e então relacio-nados com variáveis ambientais locais, tais como a complexidade estrutural, heterogenei-dade ambiental, profundidade, exposição às ondas e cobertura bentônica de corais moles, corais duros, macroalgas e turfs. Profundidade, cobertura bentônica e heterogeneidade ambiental foram as variáveis que mais influenciaram a composição das assembleias de peixes recifais, sendo que profundidade foi principal variável estruturadora. As análises temporais, realizadas com dados de três verões (2015, 2016 e 2019), reforçaram a impor-tância das espécies residentes como principais descritoras de ambientes recifais rocho-sos. Além disso, revelaram flutuações significativas na densidade e biomassa de algumas espécies de interesse comercial. Os resultados mostram que em recifes rochosos duas ou mais assembleias distintas podem ser estruturadas em uma mesma área, variando em função dos atributos locais. Algumas espécies ocasionais de ambientes recifais, podem distorcer análises e interpretações sobre padrões das assembleias. Além disto, os resul-tados também apontam que, espécies de peixes recifais residentes de uma determinada área e de importância comercial, podem responder positivamente ao fator de proteção em decorrência de maiores esforços de fiscalização.Dados abertos - Sucupira - Teses e dissertações (2020
