Esta dissertação de mestrado analisa as motivações da personagem Medeia para cometer infanticídio na peça Medeia de Eurípides e na peça homônima de Sêneca. Em ambas as tragédias, Medeia, como forma de retaliação por ser traída e abandonada, vinga-se de Jasão com o assassinato de seus dois filhos.
