Hezekiah in question: Medieval Jewish controversies on Isaiah 11

Con autorización de la editorial para este capítulo.In the history of medieval Jewish exegesis, several chapters of the book of Isaiah were represented as referring to Hezekiah's time. Moses Ibn Chiquitilla's interpretations on Isaiag 11 raised a major controversy among medieval Jewish exegetes. By using Rewritten Bible techniques, Ibn Chiquitilla offered a rewritten version of the episode of Hezekiah as contained in the book of 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles and Isaiah. To the light of Isaiah 11, he expanded this episode by adding new information such as the return of the ten tribes to Jerusalem after Sennacherib's defeat. Abraham Ibn Ezra, Nahmanides and Abravanel, among others, rejected IBN Chiquitilla's observations basing on the lack of historical evidence to sustain that the events announced in Isaiah's prophecies took place in Hezekiah's time.Peer reviewe
