Profezie e minoranze creative. Ipotesi sull'Europa tra Karol Wojtyla e Joseph Ratzinger

Karol Wojtyla’s and Joseph Ratzinger’s ideas and pronouncements about the relationship between Europe and Christianity are presented and compared. Both popes understand “Europe” as a strictly cultural concept and equate its identity with its “Christian roots.” Both popes stigmatize Europe’s “amnesia” about its tradition and call for a renewed understanding of the complex and rich Christian heritage of the Continent. However, they seem to diverge in their assessment of the future of Europe. While Wojtyla’s use of an vocabulary seems to shed a hopeful light on whats lies ahead, Ratzinger seems more dubious about the future of the Continent and calls for a more dynamic and visibile role of the “Christian creative minority” in every social and political environment
