The reaction of [(C5Me5)M2(μ-OH)3]+ cations (M = Rh, Ir) with aqueous perchloric or tetrafluoroboric acids and pyridine type ligands (L) yields the binuclear cationic complexes [(C5Me5ML2(μ-OH)2]2+, when acetone is used as solvent, but the di-μ-methoxo complexes, [(C5Me5M(py)2(μ-OMe)2]2+, in methanol. The structure of the diμ-hydroxorhodium complex was determined by X-ray crystallography and has an internal symmetry centre and an intermetallic separation of 3.308(1)Å.We thank CAICYT and Diputacion General de Aragon for financial support.Peer reviewe
