Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy and Non Linear Optical Microscopy for Analysis of Historica Glasess

Gijón -Asturias(Spain). .- https://emslibs2021spain.comThis abstract Glass is one of the most developed materials throughout history and current analysis of historical glass objects requires the use of different techniques to obtain detailed information on raw materials, production technology, provenance, etc. In this work, different historical glass-based objects were compositionally and structurally characterized using a combination of laser spectroscopy and microscopy techniques in a non- or minimally invasive way. This laser photonic approach is based on the use of Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), Laser-Induced Fluorescence (LIF), and the emerging cutting-edge technique of Nonlinear Optical Microscopy (NLOM) in the modality of Multiphoton Excitation Fluorescence (MPEF). The results obtained have served to determine the composition and the thickness of grisaille and degradation layers on glass substrates without sample removal from the object
