Personal relationships between the characters in Robert Frost’s 'The Death of the Hired Man’

Literature especially poetry can help someone become more sensitive to feeling, both his own and other people. By so doing, readers can learn values from the conflicts of the characters. This study is to analyse the personal relationships between the characters in Robert Frost’s ‘The Death of the Hired Man’. To fulfil the purpose of this study, the poem ‘The Death of the Hired Man’ by Robert Frost was taken as the source of the data. In collecting and analysing the data, the writer used his knowledge and competence to find out the personal relationships between the characters in Robert Frost’s ‘The Death of the Hired Man’. The analysis discussed the personal relationship between (1) Warren and Silas, (2) Mary and Silas, (3) Silas and Harold Wilson, (4) Silas and his brother, (5) Warren and Mary. It can be concluded that Silas, the main character of the poem, faced complex relationship with other characters
