The slides of lung cancer tissues were stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE) in standard histopathological procedures. Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue sections were cut into 4 µm thick slices, and were stained using a Tissue-Tek DRS 2000E-D2 Slide Stainer (Sakura Finetek Japan) according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Using the AxioVision SE64Rel.4.9.1.1 (Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, Germany) software, images were captured with an Axio Imager Z.1 (Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, Germany) microscope equipped with an EC Plan-NEOFLUOAR 20x/0.5NA lens. </p
