In this work a general mathematical model for computer simulating the chemo-hygro-thermal and mechanical behaviour of porous media and its particularization to two practical cases are presented. The first application deals with the evaluation of response of concrete structures exposed to high temperatures, while the second one with the modelling of strain localization phenomena in soils. Two numerical examples are shown and discussed
