The republican theory, together with the theories of the social contract and utilitarianism are an integral part of Modernity. After a decline in republican ideas, the so-called "republican turn" has taken place in the last 40 years, both at the level of political philosophy and theory. This shift acquires a multidisciplinary character and extends to constitutional theory, through the bridge of political constitutionalism, the roots of which can be found in the evolution of British constitutionalism.
