Lowery's remarks in honor of Hubert Humphrey's death and Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 49th birthday. Lowery speaks about the quality of life not being measured by time but rather being measured by the amount of service, impact, inspiration, commitment to justice and to others. Lowery speaks of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy of fighting for the struggle of human justice through Christianity and how he challenged people to simultaneously love God and each other. Lowery shares that Martin Luther King, Jr. taught us that: 1) Anything that violates the oneness of men is sin. 2) Anything that violates the sacredness, spirit, and human needs is sin. 3) Black people can't save themselves and need to depend on God.
