This article-based thesis comprises of a collection of four journal papers, three of which are published and one of which is currently accepted for publication in the Journal of Acoustical Society of America pending revisions. Each article constitutes a chapter written and formatted in manuscript form. The overall aim of these papers is to understand the acoustical properties of silica aerogels used for vibro-acoustic applications.
