In 1964, the government created the dental hygiene service following an epidemiological survey highlighting significant caries damage in young school children. The objective of our study was to describe the dental health status of children in French Polynesia between 2016 and 2019. We analyzed screening data performed by the dental hygiene service during school visits by dentists. For 3-year-old children, the ICDT score (caries index in temporary dentition) was collected. The number of decayed, missing and filled teeth was collected for the other age groups, concerning the deciduous molars only (dmf-mol) for 5-year-olds and all permanent teeth (DMF-T) for 11-year-olds.
