Concrete formwork is frequently required with the increasing demands of building and infrastructure construction and has a significant impact on the costs of concrete works. Onsite formwork planning is often conducted via site managers' individual experience, resulting in low efficiency and waste production. The potential reuse and material waste reduction of concrete formwork should be focused on, and an automated and accurate planning approach is required. Therefore, this study proposes a building information modeling (BIM)-based framework to assist site managers in automatically obtaining accurate demands of concrete formwork to reduce waste and costs.
