Abstract Primary hepatic tumours in children represent an heterogeneous group of neoplasms. Malignant tumours are more common (60% of primary liver tumours), but account for only 1.2-5% of all paediatric neoplasms. There are two main types of malignant tumour, those of epithelial origin, hepatoblastoma (HB) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and the rarer mesenchymal tumours, e.g. rhabdomyosarcoma and undifferentiated sarcoma, (Weinberg AG, Finegold, MJ.
