International audienceThis paper shows the result of a quantitative experiment aiming at comparing in great detail the noun class assignment strategies within the Bak subgroup of the Atlantic languages, a group of languages spoken on the westernmost coast of Africa. No less than 127 lexical sources covering 21 dialect zones have been examined. We have been able to measure the stability and regularity of noun class assignment between the 4 clusters of the Bak languages as well as within each one of them.
