This thesis discusses the influence of non-verbal communication between humans and horses on the psychological development of the child. Non-verbal communications such as tonic dialogue or gaze have an important place in the development of the small child. Through holding, described by Winnicott, and the establishment of a containing framework, the child will be able to progressively psychically construct themself. This original communication is still present in adulthood and plays a role in human relationships. For example, the relationship to the body and to space is nuanced by the different relational distances between people.
