L’Ordovicien inférieur de la Nappe de Mélagues autour d’Arnac et de Canac (versant nord de la Montagne noire, France)

International audienceLithostratigraphic observations within Early Ordovician near Arnac and Canac villages (Mélagues Nappe, northern flank of Montagne noire) allow characterizing the Saint-Chinian Formation and the lowermost part of the La Maurerie Formation (defined at southern flank, Alvaro et al., 2001). We also mention observing faunas, in particular the trilobites Euloma filacovi (Bergeron, 1888); Asaphelina barroisi barroisi (Bergeron, 1889); Asaphelina barroisi berardi Courtessole, Pillet & Vizcaïno 1981; Taihungshania miqueli (Bergeron, 1894). Theses trilobites are very well known at the southern flank (Courtessole et al., 1981; Vizcaïno & Alvaro, 2004) and allow establishing the biostratigraphy of the Upper Tremadocian and Lowermost Floian (Early Ordovician). This biostratigraphy is also applicable to the Mélagues Nappe.Les observations lithostratigraphiques dans l’Ordovicien inférieur autour des villages d’Arnac et Canac (Nappe de Mélagues, versant nord de la Montagne noire) ont permis de caractériser la Formation de Saint-Chinian et la base de la Formation de La Maurerie (définies dans le versant sud, Alvaro et al., 2001). Nous rapportons aussi l’observation de faunes, et en particulier les trilobites Euloma filacovi (Bergeron, 1888) ; Asaphelina barroisi barroisi (Bergeron, 1889) ; Asaphelina barroisi berardi Courtessole, Pillet & Vizcaïno 1981 ; Taihungshania miqueli (Bergeron, 1894). Ces trilobites sont déjà très bien connus dans le versant sud (Courtessole et al., 1981 ; Vizcaïno & Alvaro, 2004) et permettent d’y établir la biostratigraphie du Trémadocien supérieur et du Floien basal (Ordovicien inférieur).
