The preschool stage represents a critical period for developing foundational self-regulatory skills that guide children in managing their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Interoception is the ability to sense, interpret, and integrate body and emotional states and is a key contributor to self-regulating behaviors. Self-regulation strongly predicts academic performance, social interactions, and long-term health outcomes. There is a need for feasible and effective school-based health promotion programs that foster children’s development of interoception and self-regulation.
