Rapid and accurate pathogen identification is essential for timely and effective treatment of pneumonia. Here, we describe the use of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) of bronchoalveolar lavage (BALF) fluid to identify pathogens in patients with hematologic comorbid respiratory symptoms in a retrospective study with 84 patients. In the transplantation group, 8 cases (19.5%) and 47 cases (97.9%) were positive for BALF by conventional method detection and mNGS detection, respectively, and 6 cases (14.0%) and 41 cases (91.1%) in chemotherapy group, respectively.
