Ships with iron hulls generate a disturbance in the earth’s magnetic field that can be detected. In order to avoid detection, the disturbance is measured and nullified with coils inside the boat. A flying drone equipped with a magnetic sensor does the measurement. The purpose of this thesis is to develop and study the sensor (fluxgate). First, we extensively studied the driving circuit of the sensor, then, we designed the signal processing circuit. Next, we developed a compact model of the sensitive element, which was used to simulate the sensor behaviour. This helped us to estimate if sizing of the sensor is correct.
