Tissue expansion is now considered a very useful technique for the reconstruction of congenital and acquired defects. Nevertheless there appear to be some practical limitations associated with the extent of the defect and the expandible donor area. These difficulties have been partially overcome with the introduction of skin re-expansion. Authors present their clinical experience regarding 21 patients operated by means of this technique and show analogies and technical differences with the simple skin expansion. They found easier to prepare the new prosthesis pocket and observed a lower incidence of complications. There is furthermore a different approach to the superficial capsule wich is not completely removed. The clinical results, also ...
