Traditional 2D morphing methods have been restricted in their application in the computer animation field by their inability to produce basic transformations such as rotation without introducing distortion. As a result, computer animation relies heavily on physically based 3-dimensional geometric models. Although cumbersome to generate, these models allow a rich variety of animation of the model. In this paper we present an animation method that uses morphing techniques to avoid the complex model generation typically used in 3D animation. Instead, we produce realistic pseudo-3D animations from a pair of images, the animation being an intermediate view of the subject of the two images
