Introdução: A adequabilidade dos valores de referência espirométricos é imprescindível para o diagnóstico e seguimento das doenças respiratórias. Atualmente existem mais de 70 estudos publicados sobre valores de referência. A American Toracic Society e a European Respiratory Society (ATS/ERS) recomendam que os laboratórios selecionem os valores de referência mais adequados às suas populações e, quando indicado, desenvolvam equações de referência próprias. A presente revisão teve como objetivo perceber quais as equações de referência mais apropriadas às populações de origem europeia.
