Over the last years, most of our work has been focused on the development of alternative, RNA-based therapies for a number of Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSD), being Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) one of the most relevant. Currently, there are two major research lines being pursued: the first relies on the design of mutation-specific approaches to correct abnormal splicing processes in LSD-related genes whenever they underlie pathology and the second depends upon selective downregulation of one gene involved in the very early stages of the glycosaminoglycans’ (GAG) biosynthethic cascade to promote substrate reduction in MPS diseases.
