The simultaneous presence of hazardous chemicals and pathogenic microorganisms in wastewater is tremendously endangering the environment and human health. Therefore, developing a mitigation strategy for adequately degrading toxic compounds and inactivating/killing microorganisms is urgently needed to protect ecosystems.
