Studies in tropical African Lactarius species : 9. records from Zimbabwe

Records are given of 35 Lactarius species (Basidiomycota, Russulales) from drier Zambezian miombo woodlands in Zimbabwe. Most of them represent the first records for this country and all of them are the most southern records of the species on the African continent. Lactarius albocinctus Verbeken, L. brachystegiae Verbeken & Sharp, L. carmineus Verbeken & Walleyn and L. emergens Verbeken are proposed as new taxa. Fully illustrated descriptions are given for the first time for Lactarius aurantiifolius, L. nonpiscis, L. phlebonemus (with typification), L. pulchrispermus, L. roseolus, L. subamarus, L. urens and L. volemoides. Local uses and vernacular names of some species are documented
