Background: Long endurance exercises like (ultra-) marathons are known to elicit a variety of metabolic and physiological changes in the human body. The knowledge about ultra-endurance exercise at low intensities is scarce though. In this study we aimed to evaluate changes in body composition and metabolism in long-endurance but low-intensity events. Methods: 25 male and 18 female recreational studies (age 34.6 ± 8.8 years; BMI: 22.4 ± 2.0 kg/m²) of the 2014 to 2016 100km “Mammutmarsch” were recruited to take part in this study.
