The dairy cow in the peripartal period has a higher risk to develop diseases associated with metabolic dysregulation. Especially prepartum over conditioned cows are more likely to develop peripartal disorders. Yet there is no complete comprehension why over conditioned cows are more prone to disease. It is supposed that the time of negative energy balance is crucial to control more effectively.
