At the beginning of 2020, most countries around the world were forced to enact total lockdown in order to curb or control the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which had become a global pandemic on an unimaginable scale. On 19 March, 2020, the Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria announced that all schools should be shut down. The education sector was left with no choice other than to switch to distance learning modes.
