International audienceRecently two rings have been detected around the small body known as (10199) Chariklo (Braga-Ribas et al. 2014). Chariklo is the largest Centaur, with a diameter of 250 km and a dynamical lifetime estimated at less than 10 Myrs, given its orbital position. By the technique of multi-chord stellar occultation, Felipe Braga-Ribas and colleagues observed two dense rings around this asteroid separated by a gap of 14 km, with widths of 7 km and 3 km, optical depths 0.4 and 0.06, and radii from the central body of 391 km and 405 km, respectively.
