Crosses between different genotypes and even between different species arecommonly used in plant breeding programs. Reciprocal hybrids are obtained bychanging the cross direction (or the sexual role) of parental genotypes in a cross.Phenotypic differences between these hybrids constitute reciprocal effects (REs).
