The ever-increasing global challenges towards water security and shortage emphasize the importance of developing efficient and low-cost disinfection technologies. Currently, photocatalysis has been extensively studied for water disinfection, presenting as a “green”, cost-effective, and promising strategy. This technique only requires light-responsive semiconductors and suitable light source such as visible light or even sunlight, during which bacteria species are killed by the photoinduced reactive species.
