Tres ensayos sobre la evaluación del desarrollo económico desde la perspectiva del bienestar subjetivo

Fecha de Lectura: 04-04-2022In this paper, under China's current economic development status and related social background, combined with its own development path, we successively studied the impact of income distribution and environmental pollution on subjective well-being in China, and explored a multidimensional framework of subjective well-being. In the study of income distribution, using data from the large-scale social survey CGSS, the results suggest that both absolute and relative income affect subject well-being, and that an inverted-U shaped relationship between income inequality and individual well-being appears at least for urban residents, whereas this relationship tend to be negative in the case of people living in rural areas. Research on environmental pollution uses CFPS panel data from 2012 to 2018 to analyze the impact of environmental pollution on subjective well-being, especially considering the impact of air and water pollution from the perspective of pollutant emissions. The study found that air pollution from waste gas emissions had a significant negative impact on personal well-being during this period, and the life satisfaction approach was used to estimate the monetary value of pollution. The monetary value of exhaust gas pollution in this period was about 10,219 Yuan/kg. The study on the multi-dimensional framework of happiness explored the necessity and possibility of constructing a new definition of subjective well-being, both theoretically and empirically. By identifying the reverse symptoms of common mental disorders as dimensions of subjective well-being,we have established a ten-dimensional framework which contains "positive emotion", "emotional stability", "resilience", "meaning", "optimism", "competence", "encouragement", "enjoyment", "self-esteem" and "positive relationships".
