This article aims to present a general diagnosis of the conditions of higher education for Purépecha youth in Michoacán, Mexico. For this, a quantitative analysis was carried out on the personal, family and contextual factors that influence their choices regarding university life. In methodological terms, a documentary review of intercultural educational policies in the state was carried out, a survey was applied in four Purépecha communities and focus groups were held with high school students.
