Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a psychological disorder characterized by the persistent preoccupation with one or more perceived defects in physical appearance that are not observable or appear slight to others (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013), which is currently included into the “Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders” category of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fifth Edition (DSM-5; APA, 2013).
