Herbicide resistance is a worldwide problem and is evolving fast even in Italy, mainly in areas where monoculture and poor rotation of herbicide modes of action are common practices. Furthermore, reduction in number and diversity of active ingredients available due to the implementation of the EU regulations, as well as the widespread use of highly-active herbicide groups, which are target site specific, will increase the risk of resistance and make its management harder. The main guideline of my project was the multidisciplinary study of herbicide resistance in polyploid summer crop weeds in order to obtain information for a more responsible use of herbicides and new indications for the management.
