Faces provide a wealth of relevant information for our social life, like identity, facial expressions and gaze direction. For example, when we see a face we automatically wonder who is the person we are looking at, what he/she is feeling and what he/she is communicating. The aim of my dissertation is to understand the relationship between these different social information, attempting to determine whether or not there is a hierarchy way to process them. These information could be processed either by a single mechanism with different functions, by separate and independent mechanisms that operate in parallel, or by individual mechanisms that interact and communicate with each other.
