Microalgae processing represents one of the most promising new technologies for sustainable production of a wide range of commodities and value-added products, including cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. Moreover, at a larger time horizon, microalgae are expected to contribute for fossil carbon replacement with renewable carbon, especially for supplying green chemicals and liquid biofuel in the transport sector.
