Metagenomics represents a recent approach to better analyze and characterize the environmental microbial biodiversity. The great advances in the field of nucleic acids sequencing allow to deeply analyze a microbial community focusing on specific genetic markers, the 16S rRNA genes. In this work, the ribosomal genetic sequences of two bacterial population samples were deciphered using high throughput new generation sequencing. A consortium of Annamox bacteria capable of metabolize nitrogen-based compounds was analyzed.
