This research work analized the subsurface flow at the Rio Vauz basin, a small dolomitic basin located in the Northern Italian Alps. In particular, this study investigated the dominant factors controlling the water table response to precipitation at the hillslope and at the basin scale. The hillslope scale analysis was based on the data collected in three study periods of the years 2008, 2009, and 2010, in the Rio Ponte and in the Rio Larici sub-basins. In the Rio Ponte catchment, two steep hillslopes of similar size, soil properties and vegetation cover but contrasting topography (convex-divergent and relatively planar, respectively), were selected for the field measurements.
