A Conceptual and Evolutionary Study of Corporate Social Responsibility in India

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the concept of defining the responsibilities of the business and engaging them to perform their social duties. CSR is a not an Indian concept but a global one. World’s Richest man, Bill Gates, is also a great philanthropist who and his wife jointly run, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Richest family of India, Reliance, runs Reliance Foundation whose chairperson is Mrs. Neeta M Ambani. This spirit is to be ignited in all the business houses and companies of India and for this in 2014 Government of India passed the law to include CSR as a compulsory contribution made by the eligible companies, as defined in section 135 of Companies Act 2013.
