Nanofluids are fluids in which nanoparticles (less than 100 nm) are suspended inthe conventional base fluids. Thesedispersed solid nanoparticlesmetallic or non-metallicchangesthe thermalproperties of the base fluid like thermal conductivity, viscosity, specific heat, and density, etc. Thispaper summarizes the important articles published on the enhancement of the heat transfer characteristics in heat exchangers using nanofluids. In the first part of this article theexperimental studies and results for the effective thermal conductivity, viscosity and the Nusselt number reported by several authorsare discussed. And the second part is focused on application of nanofluids in differenttypes of heat exchanger
