STUDY OF PROPELLER DESIGN PARAMETERS

In this paper, Propeller design parameters and propeller testing methods are presented. The propeller manufacturers are trying to increase the delivered power and the system diameter of the propellers to meet all requirements. This has led to a higher power density of the propeller and to a greater risk of cavitation. That is why the design process is complex and has to rely on calculations and model tests. Computer Aided drafting programs Solid Works are mostly used for entire design procedure of propeller, from aerofoil selection to final part generation. QMIL and QPROP were the programs of choice for producing a propeller design to obtain minimum losses and properaerodynamic efficiency.
