Pionieristic Pitirim Sorokin’s Studies on Peace and Renewal of Humanity [Пионерские этюды Питирима Сорокина о мире и обновлении человечества]

Some scholars reading the title of this contribution, if they do not have an accurate knowledge of Sorokin’s works and activities, may think that this is heresy. Such a claim would be based on the fact that Sorokin is known as the sociologist of revolution and war (1925, 2010/1942) forgetting that he is also the sociologist of altruistic creative love (Sorokin, 1954). From this, it can be deduced that the first statement is wrong, in fact, in the same way as Lewis Richardson (1950, 1960) and Quincy Wright (1957), Sorokin is considered one of the precursors of what would later be known as peace research (Dungen, 1996).
