Obesity is a well-recognized global health problem, and bariatric surgery (BS)-induced weight reduction has been demonstrated to improve survival and obesity-related conditions. Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is actually one of the most performed bariatric procedures. The underlying mechanisms of weight loss and its maintenance after SG are not yet fully understood. However, changes to the taste function could be a contributing factor. Data on the extent of the phenomenon are limited.
