Recent earthquakes have underlined the need for a prompt classification of buildings in terms of seismic performances. The capacity of a structure can be assessed by means of inelastic analysis, requiring sophisticated numerical procedures. Therefore, a simplified method for the evaluation of seismic performance of steel frames to be used in the everyday practice is proposed in this paper.
