Ethel Milley talks about when she was young, the differences in life between her childhood and now, and how they managed their living when she was growing up.00:07- 01:05 she was born and raised in Burnt Point in the Conception Bay, they did not have much money then, she had seven brothers and one sister, she is from a fisherman family, they grew their own vegetables and had cattle; 01:11- 02:23 she worked in a home for six months, they had no money to spent, there was no cars, people had to go by horse in winter, in summer they had to go by trucks, there was only a doctor to visit, she tells that now everything is changed and still changing; 02:30-03:33 her mother used to make clothing for her, they bought foods and groceries from the Carbonear, they used to go there by horse, she started working in a home when she was eight years old; 03:40-04:30 she used to enjoy Christmas, Easters, they had good neighbors then, she quotes that was good old days; 04:51- 07:47 Milley tells that they happily lived together with all the siblings, they used to grow cabbage, beans, potatoes in their garden, they had cows, then there was no electricity, no fridge was there, they used lamps in their home, she thinks that time was good as everybody was the same, these were good days than now, when she was five years old she saw a car for the first time; 07:59- 09:11 accordion music was played then, she did not go to any dance, she does not know singing, her husband was a fisherman, he passed away in 1974, she knit cushions for her living, it took couple of days to make a cushion; 09:17- thanking Milley and end of the interview
